Child Passenger Safety Classes
Safe Kids Maine conducts a variety of classes including Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification Classes and Child Passenger Safety Technical Update Classes. Learn more about becoming a CPS Technician at www.cpsboard.org
Safety, Childproofing and Basic First Aid Class (includes a brief car seat component)
This course was designed to help certified CPS technicians and technicians-instructors stay up-to-date in the ever changing CPS environment and to earn valuable CEUs to use towards recertification. Participants gain a clear understanding of difficult or often-misunderstood CPS topics, obtain updated or advanced information about changing CPS technology and to learn help correct the errors and misinformation commonly witnessed in the field.
Awareness workshops are offered to groups, organizations and businesses to provide basic education about car seat safety. Workshops can be tailored to fit any schedule, ranging from a brief introduction in less than an hour to up to 3 hours long. The workshop fee varies depending upon length and location. This four-hour class is designed to teach participants about the importance car seats and how to use car seats correctly for a variety of children. The class includes hands-on activities designed to build the confidence and skills necessary to transport children safely.
All Maine licensed child care facilities that transport children are required to take this class. It is strongly recommended that the class be repeated at least every two years.

Do you have or care for an older baby or child, or are you expecting a new baby? Is your child getting more active, curious, and into everything?
This class is for expectant parents and parents/caregivers of children 0-3 years old who are looking for important information about preventing injuries in the first 3 years of life.
In a partnership between Safe Kids Maine and Maine Medical Center, you will learn what injuries infants and toddlers are most at risk for, ways to prevent these injuries from happening, and how to handle them if they do.
Babies in arms are welcome!
